Best English Speaking Nurseries in Doha, Qatar

Choosing the right nursery for your child is a tough ask. You need to know that not only is your child going to be safe throughout the day, but that they’re also going to be in the best hand to learn through play. After all, that’s exactly how children learn new skills and socialise with other children.

When you move to another town or country, it’s even more important to do your research and find the best locations for your children. It’s not always easy to know the best spots when you’re not in your usual place; you may not know that many families in the area and you can’t get ‘first hand’ recommendations in the usual way.

However, if you’re about to move to Doha, or you’re already there and your child is about to start their early years education, you’ll need some reliable information on the best nurseries in the area.

Thankfully, there are some fantastic English speaking nurseries in the Doha area, and we have five of the best.

Redwood Montessori Nursery, Doha

Having been founded in 2021, Redwood Montessori Nursery is one of the most modern and unique English speaking nurseries in the Doha area. It is the very first Montessori nursery in Doha and located in the Dafna area, close to many major international embassy buildings.

This is a co-ed nursery that is open from Sunday until Thursday, from 8am until 6pm. Following the Montessori curriculum, Redwood Montessori Nursery gives each child a unique education based on their specific needs. Of course, the Montessori way is to help children learn to love learning and they do that through exploring and following their own interests. As such, they’re able to make their own choices and become independent and confident.

The nursery itself is designed to be a home away from home, helping children to feel settled and in their own routine as soon as they arrive, to the moment they go back home. The outdoors area is also top quality, with a planting area, water play, wooden play equipment, and sand box. Inside, there is a gym and a sensory room, and children spend time in both of these every day.

Using materials to help develop children’s concentration skills, independence, and motor skills, hands-on activities are placed around the nursery daily, with children encouraged to move towards the activities that interest them the most. There are also foreign language courses available for older children, namely French, German, and Arabic.

The outdoor area is large and includes a climbing frame and sand pit. There is also an indoor activity hall for movement and music classes, dance, construction, and art. The soft play area is large and brightly coloured to encourage children to play and move as much as possible.

The nursery follows the UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, and they want to be seen as your child’s home away from home, encouraging them to play freely and explore the various activities strategically placed around the nursery during the day.

The design of the nursery really stands out. Classrooms and play areas are bright and very colourful. Everything is clean and sparkling, which gives parents confidence in their choice of nursery, but also encourages children to get in there and explore!

At the heart of the nursery’s ethos is a desire to help children develop their social skills, good manners to those around them, and respect for others. By doing this, they’re well-placed to begin their educational journey as they leave the nursery and move into their first full school years. This is all done with a huge emphasis on fun, because at the end of the day, that’s how children learn!

The first thing that springs to mind when you see Kanga’s Pouch Nursery is the design. Based on Winnie The Pooh’s Hundred Acre Wood, the nursery is beautifully laid out and children are encouraged to explore and go on an adventure every single day.

Kanga’s Pouch Nursery believe that play and learning are one and the same during the early years of a child’s education. Every single child is valued as the individual they are, and encouraged to be themselves as they meet and play with other children. They believe that every child should feel safe and supported as they learn, meaning an inclusive and friendly atmosphere is needed. You certainly get that with this nursery.

At the heart of the nursery’s focus is good behavior, cooperation, and manners, along with showing sensitivity and empathy towards others.

The staff to child ratios at this nursery are fantastic, with 1 member of staff for every 2 babies aged between 2 to 9 months, and 1 member of staff for every 5 children aged between 36 to 48 months. All staff speak English, with most native English speakers, however some staff members also speak Arabic.
